Stradivarius in tune

Stradivarius swept down the straight to win his second Doncaster Cup.

It was also his 17th Group win, breaking the record he had shared with Cirrus des Aigles.  Certainly his biggest challenger was not there as the rain arrived a bit too late for him, and the placings went to Alerta Roja 16/1 and Nayef Road, both quite a bit behind the winner who was in cruise control. John Gosden says he will probably go either to Ascot or the Prix Cadran and since he is enjoying his racing the "r" word is not in his vocab for now.  Rodrigo Diaz ran fourth and was not impressive.

Earlier Clive Cox's Caturra 7/1 won the Flying Childers.  Described by his trainer as a horse who just eats and sleeps, the winner was too good for Amor and Corazon.

Thursday saw Inspiral give her sire Frankel another Group winner when she easily won the May Hill from Prosperous Voyage.  Free Wind won the Park Hill by 7 lengths from Golden Pass 8/1.

Saturday's card sees the Champagne Stakes reduced to 4 runners making it hopefully even easier for The Queen to collect another trophy with her talented colt Reach For The Moon.  Lusail is considered the danger – 9/4.

The Park Stakes G2 sees two Shadwell runners as the top picks for the 3yo 1400m race.  There are only 6 runners in the field, and it is Laneqash just ahead of Danyah in the market.

Not much change in the St Leger betting as even with the change in the going following last night's downpour it should still suit Hurricane Lane.  Mojo Star and Ottoman Emperor are around 7/1.
