Sunday at the Curragh

3 minute read

The great Irish weekend continues with the Irish St Leger highlighting a top card.

It starts with the Blandford Stakes G2 for f&m over 2000m and 9 go to post.  "Love is all you ever need" says the song and the market with Love on 11/10 for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.  Thundering Nights is on 3/1 and our roughie here is Oodnadatta a Jessica Harrington 3yo filly who gets a weight advantage.

The Flying Five is G1 over 1000m with 13 starters.  Winter Power has shown good form recently and comes in here on 2/1,  Glass Slippers the main rival on 11/4 and we like the improvement shown by Gustavus Weston and will put him in on 12/1.

The Moyglare Stud Stakes is G1 for the 2yo fillies over 1400m.  Cairde Go Deo is a Camelot filly with Ger Lyons and is on 11/4 together with Homeless Songs, a Frankel filly who is with Dermot Weld.  Agarthe is on 3/1.

The National Stakes is G1 for 2yo c&f and 7 will start.  Point Lonsdale, by Australia is on ½ with Godolphin raider Nativel Trail 4/1 for Appleby-Buick.

The Irish St Leger is over 2800m and unlike the English version is not restricted to 3yos.  Twilight Payment, last year's Melbourne Cup winner, will have no problems with the trip and is on 3/1.  Sonnyboyliston  is in good form and on 4/1 ahead of Baron Samedi on 5/1 and our roughie here is Barbados on 33/1.
