The St Leger Day program didn't go exactly according to script.
This started off when the short-priced favourite Love was pipped at the post by Paddy Twomey's La Petite Coco in the Blandford. Only a short head in it with Thundering Nights 3 lengths back in third.
A similar story in the Flying Five when Ed Lynam saddled his first G1 winner in 6 years as Romantic Proposal 16/1 took the honours from A Case of You 33/1 and Glass Slippers third.
The Moyglare Stud brought another G1 to Discoveries, who dam has now foaled 3 G1 winners. It was part of a very good weekend for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley who were involved with four winners over the weekend. Agarthe was not disgraced in second.
The National Stakes saw Charlie Appleby and William Buick's good weekend continue when Native Trail cruised away to win by 3 ½ lengths to the previously unbeaten Point Lonsdale.
And then the St Leger which saw Ben Coen collect his first G1 when Sonnyboyliston won the St Leger and a second trophy for Johnny Murtagh. Twilight Payment ran second and Baron Samedi third.
