No Blot on his copy book!

3 minute read

Jockey Paulin Blot lost both his irons and his saddle at the 3rd jump.

This was in the ultra-difficult cross-country event at Pau, and since the 4th jump closely follows the third and Blot and his mount Frascati Lagade negotiated it well, the jockey decided they would continue.  He said the secret was to position his weight well and while he could use his legs he said the horse was a pro and knew what to do.  When they came to the run in they were in 5th but managed to get past 3 other runners and finish second.

Blot got a tremendous ovation from the crowd at Pau and "a bottle from the racecourse president".

It was a sensational piece of horsemanship.
