Racing Victoria vets have given two Melbourne Cup runners until official scratching time the chance to prove their fitness to run in Australia's great race.

Delphi and Future Score both presented with lameness when RV vets again inspected all 24 horses in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington.

Following vet inspections prior to accepting for the Cup on Saturday afternoon, RV added a further inspection on Monday as part of their stringent protocols following the death on Anthony Van Dyck in last year's Cup.

Those inspections found Delphi, trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, presented with lameness in his nearside foreleg while the Matt Cumani-trained Future Score was showing signs of lameness in the offside foreleg.

Both horses will be reinspected by vets prior to the 7.30am scratching time on Tuesday.

Delphi has been well-supported in Cup betting with TAB firming from as much as $51 following Saturday's draw into $17 while Future Score is an outsider at $126.

The Peter Moody-trained Incentivise was the $2.80 favourite on Monday evening with Spanish Mission second pick at $11.
