West Australian stewards have ruled the death of apprentice Adrian Chan after a fall at Carnarvon last week was an accident.

The 24-year-old died three days after suffering head injuries when his horse Dobs clipped the heels of Secret Caper and fell on top of Chan who had been dislodged.

After taking evidence from jockeys and stewards and studying the video footage, stewards said they could not attribute blame to any rider and deemed the incident to be accidental.
