BROKEN HILL: Club Will Compensate Trainers

3 minute read

The St Patrick's Race Club will offer compensation to visiting trainers after the annual race meeting was washed out.

Executives of the club will pay a yet to be determined subsidy to the trainers who made the long and fruitless trek to Broken Hill from Victoria, South Australia and many parts of NSW.

The payments will be made despite the club taking a financial hit with a loss of revenue and recent thefts of money and fittings from the race course.

St Pat’s president Marg Corradini said the club needs to support trainers who travel to Broken Hill each year.

"We're very aware and very mindful that these people support us year after year after year,” she said.

"We've got no idea how much we're going to be able to offer as a rebate, but we will certainly try to make some sort of recompense to the trainers.

Police are continuing to investihgatre the theft of money and televisions from the racecourse.

“Apparently they have a couple of leads, so we're hoping something comes of that,” Corradini said.

"As far as the money goes, it's been over a month since it was stolen so we're just ploughing along."

The Broken Hill Police have confirmed they are awaiting the results of forensic testing.
