More Joyous Wins Rosehill Trial

3 minute read

Glamour mare More Joyous ramped up her spring carnival preparation with a pleasing barrier trial win at Rosehill on Tuesday.

The five-time Group One winner, who was recently crowned the NSW Horse of the Year, scored by a long head in a 1030m heat over stablemate Nobby Snip in a time of 1:01.85.

Nash Rawiller, who is currently serving a 12-meeting careless riding suspension, was on board the outstanding mare.

More Joyous is slated to resume in Melbourne in the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 30.

Tuesday's trial was the second for More Joyous this preparation after an easy time in an 800m heat on her home track at Randwick on August 19.

In Tuesday's Rosehill trial she was first home ahead of three of her Gai Waterhouse-trained stablemates Nobby Snip, Samui Lad and Charing Cross.

The trial also featured the Chris Waller-trained stablemates Syreon and Foreteller.

Syreon is set to resume at Randwick on Saturday while last start Rosehill winner Foreteller is set to drop back in distance for his next start in The Shorts at Randwick on September 17 as his lead-up to the G1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick on October 1.
