3 minute read

A superb ride by Hugh Bowman has seen Streama win her second race in as many starts when taking out the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill today.

Jumping from the inside barrier, Bowman put Streama up on the pace and at the 800m mark took the lead from the Gai Waterhouse trained Shared Reflections and knuckled down to the task over the concluding stages to win by 2 lengths.

Pane In The Glass, who got back in the race ran on well for second with the David Payne trained Florentina who finished second to Streama in the Furious Stakes running third.

In a day that has seen every favourite win from six races, Streama showed her versatility as a horse that can race anywhere in the field on her way to the Flight Stakes (1600m) to be run at Randwick in two weeks.

“I thought Nash was going to lead on Shared Reflections but then he didn't know where he wanted to be so I made a decision to kick up and she is very adaptable and just a good filly,” said Bowman.

“From the 600m where they let us slide in I know she would kick again at the 300m but she kicked again at the 100m.”

“She will certainly take some beating in the flight stakes.”

The three-year-old daughter of Stratum has now won three races from six career starts and will head into the Flight Stakes (1600m) a very dominate favourite.

“She is a beautiful filly she and very very adaptable a top class filly,” said trainer Guy Walter.

“Another beautiful ride by Hugh it was beautifully judged he said he was going to go forward and I was a bit wary but he was proved right.”

Third placegetter Florentina once again put in another good run and looks like one to follow into the future as does Shadow Stakes winner Pane In The Glass.
