MARTHAGUY: Tim Phillips Rides The Card

3 minute read

South coast jockey Tim Phillips has entered the NSW record books by riding the entire program at the Marthaguy picnic meeting held at Quambone near Coonamble on September 1.

Phillips, 39, rode all the winners on the five race card and is believed to be the first jockey in more than six years to achieve the feat.

Phillips kicked off his memorable afternoon with a win on She’s a Cutie ($3.40) followed by Maximum Vision ($2.80 equal favourite) and Spinning Yarns ($1.70 fav).

He then captured the feature event – the Quambone Picnic Cup – on Orbit ($2.10 fav) and had little cause for concern in the final race when he guided King Con ($2.80 fav) to an easy win by more than two lengths.

Champion Dubbo-based rider Greg Ryan was the last jockey to ride the program in NSW at Parkes in August of 2006.
