COONABARABRAN: Rare Double For Tamworth Veteran

3 minute read

Tamworth-trained veteran All Again became only the second horse in 55 years to win two Coonabarabran Cups when he landed the $40,000 feature on October 22.

Trained by Lesley Jeffriess, the nine-year-old All Again won his first Coonabarabran Cup in 2008.

He joins Tony’s Mistake, who won the Coonabarbran Cup in 1988 and 1990, as the only dual winners of the

race.

Tamworth-based jockey Darren Jones rode All Again in his first win in 2008 and remarkably was again in the saddle this year.

It was a day for the veterans as another nine-year-old Spectacular Iam took out the feature sprint, the Sky Racing Gold Handicap, for Narromine trainer Kylie Kennedy with apprentice Codey Hodges in the saddle.

Spectacular Iam, the Western Racing Association 2011-2012 Horse Of The Year, has the fine record of 15 wins and 19 placings from 61 starts.
