Scream Machine recorded his first Listed win with a thrilling last-to-first victory in the Wagga Gold Cup over 2000m on May 3.

Trainer Jason Coyle is confident the big Scone track will give Scream Machine his chance to complete the double despite having to come back 400m to 1600m.

"He has done it before when I took him back to a mile in the Goulburn Cup and he ran second to Kinnersley,' Coyle said.

"He's a very fit horse and we don't have to do a lot with him. I actually think the mile is going to suit him with a nice tempo in front.

"I don't think it's going to be a drama. He did it the tough way at Wagga.

"He was been behind some nice horses at the carnival before that and probably had a couple of excuses in a few of those runs.'

"Now he's got a black type win and it’s well deserved."

Tim Clark will take the Scone Cup ride on Scream Machine, adding to the impressive list of leading jockeys heading the Hunter Valley for the two-day carnival including Melbourne stars Michael Rodd and Michael Walker.

The pair have picked up rides in the Scone Cup with Rodd riding Fireball for Chris Waller and Walker aboard the John Sargent-trained mare Cathay Lady.
