May’s Dream, out of Weir’s Melbourne Cup placegetter She’s Archie, was settled in the back half of a small field on the opening race of the Caulfield card with jockey Nick Hall happy to allow things to pan out in front of him.

She travelled strongly for Hall and responded when asked to run away from runner up Bulbula to score what was a soft win on the line. Suavito held third.

“She’s got a good turn of foot and we’re hoping she’s a Thousand Guineas filly,” said Weir.

“[We’re] just not sure that she is ready for it yet, but she can gallop.”

May’s Dream has firmed to $7 for the Thousand Guineas on October 16 where the current favourite is star filly Guelph who is set to run beforehand in the Flight Stakes at Randwick next Saturday.
