Big Day For Beaudesert

3 minute read

The annual Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club’s charity race day on May 24 will or the first time involve the three codes of racing.

Five gallops events will alternate with three trotting races, all run on the main grass course proper as was the case at Kilcoy last December.

Greyhound racing will also be involved, but not with races.

Representatives of the Greyhound Adoption Program, commonly referred to as GAP, will have some retired racers there for people to get close to and see the beautiful temperament and suitability of greyhounds retired from racing being a household pet.

Barrier trials will be held, pending nominations received, for trotters over 1574 metres on May 18.

The three trotting races on May 24 will be over 1574 metres, where the field is despatched behind the mobile barrier in the home straight under the close eye of racegoers.

The race distances have been shortened from the previously advertised 1609 metres to provide the trotters behind the mobile barrier a suitable straight run to the starting point.

The galloping highlight will be the Tom Dunne Hibernian Cup over the staying distance of 2450 metres.

The Hibernian Cup is a Benchmark 65 event for $8,000 prizemoney plus a $250 winning owner’s trophy.

The Beaudesert Hibernian race day supports Cancer Council Queensland, which has been the club’s sponsor of choice since 1999.
