A filly Newcastle trainer Kris Lees had hoped would gain a Magic Millions berth earlier this year is ready to race again.

And Lees is much happier this time in work with Datable, who trialled strongly at Broadmeadow on Wednesday.

The All American youngster's Magic Millions campaign - the rich juvenile event was run at the Gold Coast in January - was aborted after she failed in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) on December 19.

She finished fifth (only six ran) - and was beaten a fair way - to subsequent Magic Millions winner Unencumbered in the Wyong lead-up, and was immediately rested.

At her first start, Datable - who fetched $40,000 at last year's MM sales - finished a promising fifth to Alpha Miss in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on October 5.

Christian Reith rode her in both races and also when she won an 850m heat of the official Randwick two-year-old trials on September 23.

"Datable just didn't come up in the summer," Lees said after the trial.

"We had to rush her preparation to try and get her into the Magic Millions. There was no point going on after she failed at Wyong.

"But I'm a lot happier with her this time. She trialled nicely this morning and is ready to go to the races."

Ridden by Andrew Gibbons, Datable finished a close third in an 800m 2YO fillies' trial on the course proper (where markers were out 10m).

The trial was run in 48.3secs - the fastest of three juvenile heats.
