Setbacks in training at the Werribee quarantine centre have ruled two locally-trained imports out of the spring carnival.

Gai Waterhouse’s high priced French import Cafe Society and the Mike Moroney-trained Manduro’s Son were ruled out after their morning exercise on Tuesday.

Cafe Society was found to have heat in a leg. He will finish his quarantine at the International Quarantine Centre this week and then be sent to NSW for a spell.

Manduro’s Son required surgery after fracturing his off-side foreleg in three places as he was pulling up after a track gallop on Tuesday morning.

Manduro’s Son was to contest Saturday’s G2 Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield.

Melbourne Cup topweight Admire Rakti also gave his connections a scare at Werribee on Tuesday morning when he was attacked by a stablemate.

Admire Rakti avoided injury when Admire Inazuma attempted to savage him after dumping his rider.

Admire Inazuma tried to bite and kick his stablemate before he was brought under control.

Meanwhile the Australian Registrar of Racehorses has ordered name changes for two of the international horses here for the spring carnival.

The Roger Varian-trained G1-winning mare Ambivalent will race as My Ambivalent while in Australia to avoid confusion with the NSW-trained galloper of the same name.

The six-year-old daughter of Authorized is to run in the $3 million Caulfield Cup on Saturday with Hugh Bowman to ride.

The OTI Racing-owned Van Percy, runner up in the Ebor at York earlier this year, will race as Lord Van Percy when he contests Saturday’s G2 Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield.

His name change was requested by the ARR to avoid any confusion with a South Australian maiden performer Van Persie.
