3 minute read

Green Moon and Sea Moon can deliver Team Williams another Zipping Classic as the class runners of Saturday’s Group 2 feature.

A field of nine will contest the Zipping Classic which returns to Sandown after the 2013 renewal won by Sertorius was held at Caulfield.

Beforehand, Team Williams had won five of the past six renewals of the contest courtesy of Tanby in 2012 and Zipping in four years between 2007 and 2010.

Team Williams will be hoping to continue their dominance in the event with Green Moon and Sea Moon representing the stable.

The pair have been lightly-raced through the spring and shape as the class runners of the event.

Both Green Moon and Sea Moon come out of the Caulfield Cup and will be much better suited under weight-for-age conditions.

Prince Of Penzance backs up after running second in the Queen Elizabeth and will be reunited with Michelle Payne who is back from a suspension.

Au Revoir contests the event after a brave eighth in the Melbourne Cup.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig will saddle up two runners spearheaded by Spillway.

The Rail Link entire was closing well to claim fourth in the Mackinnon Stakes last start.

Stablemate Rawnaq will be on a quick turnaround after a midfield seventh at Flemington last Saturday in a Ratings 90 event.

The Hayes-Dabernig stable will be well represented throughout the feature events across the nine race program at Sandown.

Promising colt Petrology will look to claim consecutive stakes successes in the Sandown Guineas (1600m) while Fast ‘n’ Rocking can continue his strong form since being gelded in the Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m).

The Andre Fabre-trained Au Revoir began well and soon crossed to the lead before easing to settle in second place, following a moderate mid-race tempo. He moved up to be outside the leader at the 800m, went to the front at the 300m, was headed at the 150m and then fought back gamely to score by a head in a solid staying performance. Epingle settled well in fifth place on the rails, got an inside run at the turn and went through to challenge at the 300m. She took a narrow lead at the 150m but was out-gamed nearing the post for second after putting up a very good effort. The favourite Prince Of Penzance had a perfect trip in third place on the rails, challenged at the 200m but just battled from that point for third, after appearing to have every chance. Spillway travelled well in seventh place on the rails in the eight-horse field, switched into clear running at the 300m and battled on fairly well from that point to finish fourth while Green Moon disappointed in finishing fifth after being a handy fourth to the turn.
