Strutt Success Sees Winners Keep Coming For Wordsmith

The winners keep coming for the Geard's sire Wordsmith during the Hobart Carnival with Geegees Goldengirl claiming the Strutt Stakes on Monday.

Geegees Goldengirl went into the Listed Strutt Stakes (2100m) at Hobart after placings in both the Tasmanian Guineas (1600m) and the Hobart Guineas (2100m).

The Wordsmith filly had her moment in the sun taking out the fillies feature at Hobart on Monday.

From an inside barrier, jockey Sigrid Carr settled on the fence.

Always saving ground, Carr initially was blocked for a run on straightening however checked the filly off heels into clear running from the 200m.

From there Geegees Goldengirl let down well to strike the front at before a length win ensued.

It continues a purple patch of form for the Geard family and also their emerging sire Wordsmith who has been well represented through the Hobart Carnival.

Across Friday and Monday, five sons and daughter of Wordsmith have saluted for the Geards.

Geegees Doublejay and Derby winner Geegees Classicboy delivered for connections on Friday before the successes of Geegees Soprano, Elwick Stakes (1200m) winner Gee Gees Top Notch and Geegees Goldengirl on Monday.
