Trainer Tony McEvoy has enjoyed a big week in NSW with Life O’Brien’s Warwick Farm success on Wednesday followed by a treble in the first three races at Goulburn on Thursday.
Each of McEvoy’s three Goulburn winners went under the surgeon’s knife to successfully make it to the track.
The multi-state trainer’s jockey nephew Kerrin McEvoy partnered all three of his uncle’s horses.Dreamlining made a successful debut in the Maiden Plate (1000m), Duperie Saga landed the Maiden Handicap (1400m) and Dreadlock was first home in the 3YO Maiden Handicap (1300m).
A Lonhro four-year-old, Dreamlining joined McEvoy’s Hawkesbury team earlier this year and subsequently had bone chips removed from both knees.Former Queenslander Duperie Saga came to McEvoy after two unsuccessful starts late last year in Brisbane.
When he wasn’t shaping up as connections had hoped, a visit to the surgeon relieved him of his two prized “assets”.Gelding the Real Saga three-year-old has clearly worked and McEvoy’s foreman Barry Wintle believes Duperie Saga has the potential to handle longer distances.
Another debutant Dreadlock completed the Goulburn treble for McEvoy.A Redoute’s Choice three-year-old, he underwent a wind operation as a younger horse to correct his breathing.
