You’ve Got The Goss

3 minute read

Got The Goss is in great order as he seeks back to back metropolitan wins at Rosehill tomorrow.

Canberra trainer Trevor McIlrick says Got The Goss is “… very, very well. He pulled up a treat off his Rosehill win three weeks ago and after the race you’d hardly know he’d been around”.

McIlrick says the Eavesdropper gelding always shows marked improvement between his first and second runs.

“He’s unbeaten first-up as well as second-up, so his fresh form is pretty good really. As long as it stays dry and we don’t get any storms we should be pretty competitive I reckon.

“I’d have preferred a larger field where you know they will run along. But having said that there is a couple in there that roll along so I think it should be run genuinely and that will suit.

Got The Goss is currently on the second line of betting for the 1400m BM 89 behind Zin Zan Eddie and the each way odds on offer look more than fair.

McIlrick is delighted with the progress of his Al Aseel filly Miss Liffey who notched her fourth win from five starts last Sunday at Canberra.

Miss Liffey was a bit slow off in the 1000m BM 65 and took a trail.

“She is a pretty adaptable little horse who showed she can lead or settle off the pace,” he says.

“She will have one more run before she goes for a spell and at this stage it will be at Canberra on December 29 in a BM65 1200m.

“There is not much of her and the way she eats she should be a little roly-poly thing. But she is in great condition and hasn’t looked back since that run.

“She is a very relaxed dude. She’s got the right attitude and she will go on further.

“Once she has had a break and matures a bit more and gets more strength she will be a better filly still.”
