Dreadlock in Race 4 looks the pick of them. The Redoute’s Choice gelding was heavily supported across markets to win at Canberra last Friday week, but the race was washed out.

He was then scratched at Kembla Grange on Tuesday and kept for this.

He did not have the best of it placing last time behind the promising Hermosa Beach at Canberra after a strong Goulburn Maiden win on debut.

Shinn is obviously a big rider switch and if there is a negative it is the 38 days between runs.

McEvoy’s other runner in the race is Duperie Saga with Jay Ford up and he looks a danger to the stablemate.

Shinn also rides A Good Yank for McEvoy in Race 5.

The All American 3yo came off winning trials at Hawkesbury and Rosehill to debut at Canberra two weeks ago and didn’t get warm on the heavy 10 surface.

Best for forget that and Shinn’s booking suggests the gelding can make amends.

McEvoy has also accepted with Lomazzo in the same race with Christian Reith to ride and both horses are CANBOBS qualified — as is Dreadlock.

This provides a $5,000 bonus to the winner for NSWBOBs qualified runners.

McEvoy saddles up Miss World in Race 6 with Reith also taking the reins. The Choiser 4yo resumed at Hawkesbury and had support running fourth.

She is sure to have taken improvement and placed at Newcastle at her second race start.

Canberra’s premier meeting — the Mercedes Benz Black Opal Stakes Day — is just over a month away and it is all system go according the Club.

This will be preceded by Lightning Ridge Plate day of February 28, the traditional lead-up to the Opal.
