Bring A Secret On Track For Goulburn — Nick Olive

3 minute read

The first of the Sera Country Championships Qualifiers kicks off at Goulburn on Saturday with strong Canberra nominations as anticipated.

The well-performed Nick Olive-trained Bring A Secret is sure to be well-fancied.

Olive says the Sebring 3yo looks back to his best.

“He disappointed early in the campaign and was just not himself,” Olive says

“It was a mental thing more than anything and that’s why we dropped him back in class and gave him a couple of easy kills.

“He won well at Wagga but then he won really well at the Sapphire Coast — he did everything so professionally and really let-down hard.

“Doing that is a big positive for the horse and hopefully the making of him going into Saturday’s race.

“He galloped on the grass this morning and went fabulous. He is progressive and we just hope he keeps putting it all together.”

Bring A Secret is currently on the second line of betting at $15 in early markets to take out the Country Championship Final.

The Matt Dale-trained Hermosa Beach — who also races on Saturday — and Clearly Innocent head markets at $11.0.

In a cracker-jack contest at Goulburn, form gallopers Lofty’s Menu, Rose Of Man, Shutterbug, Northern Fury, and Bank On Henry — among others — are also nominated.

Olive says his classy Not A Single Doubt filly Single Gaze will race next in the Group 2 Surround Stakes at Warwick farm on 27 February.

Single Gaze was beaten a length by Mahuta in the rich 3yo Magic Millions Guineas on the Gold Coast on 9 January.

“She will trial at Canberra on Sunday," Olive says.

“She galloped on the grass this morning and is going absolutely terrific. She looks to have gone to another level — she’s more complete.

“There is terrific form around her — and we believe she will be very competitive in the Autumn features.”
