Single Gaze Set For Vinery Stud Stakes | Trainer Nick Olive

3 minute read

Canberra trainer Nick Olive has confirmed a start for his classy filly Single Gaze in the $500,000 Vinery Stud Stakes 2000m at Rosehill on Saturday week.

Olive says Single Gaze hasn’t missed a beat since her win in last week’s $200,000 Group 3 Arrowfield Classic at Kembla Grange.

“She’s come through it brilliantly — probably the best she has ever pulled up from a race — and she will go to the Vinery,” he says.

“Both Kathy (rider Kathy O’Hara) and myself thought she ran out the mile very strongly the other day.

“Kathy made the comment that the strongest she felt in the whole race was on the line — and I was impressed when that horse came to challenge her how she came away again on the line.

“She does go through a flat spot in her races before getting into her rhythm and accelerating again. “We thought over a mile she wouldn’t, but she still did.

“I personally believe she will run out a strong 2000m in the Vinery, but it is a big jump from the mile and we won’t know until she actually competes in it.”
