The 2016 George Ryder Stakes promises to be one of the highlight races on the 2016 Golden Slipper program at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday March 19.

Turn Me Loose takes on a star-studded field but comes into the 2016 George Ryder Stakes as a last-start Group 1 winner of the Futurity Stakes (1400m) in Melbourne.

Baker flew into Sydney on Wednesday and was pleased with the appearance of Turn Me Loose.

"He's going well and we're very happy with the horse,” Baker said.

“I hadn't seen him for three weeks before I arrived in Sydney yesterday and he looks terrific."

"But we're taking on a strong field - Winx, Press Statement, who's supposed to be the best three-year-old over here, Hucklebuck - and it doesn't end there. “

The 2016 George Ryder Stakes could be an autumn-defining one for Turn Me Loose, who also holds entries for the 2016 Doncaster Mile and 2016 Queen Elizabeth Stakes during The Championships at Randwick.

Turn Me Loose is a $7 chance for the 2016 George Ryder Stakes with TAB fixed odds betting behind Winx at $1.60.

Winx was trapped a little wide in the early stages of the race in the second half of the field ,that forced Hugh Bowman to make a mid race move to settle the champion mare eventually in third position about four lengths from the tearaway leader Turn Me Loose, who set good early fractions. Winx cornered three wide in striking distance and was brought with her run, hitting the front at the 200m and fighting off the challenge of her stablemate Kermadec back towards the inside to draw away to a most taking victory. Kermadec was good in defeat. He raced in last position on the fence in the run before staying to the inside on turning for home. He challenged the winner briefly in the straight but could not match her late finishing for a game second. Press Statement raced in fourth position on the inside of Winx in the run. He stayed to the inside on turning for home, before laying out three to four horses off the fence in the straight. He battled on gamely for a good third.
