Seaburge and Zamzam both make their Sydney debuts in the 2016 Sires’, run on day one of the Championships at Randwick this Saturday April 2.

Dabernig believes both Seaburge and Zamzam are horses with good futures and expects both to be competitive in the 2016 Sires’.

“I think Seaburge possibly is the better horse in time but Zamzam is hard and fit and she’s never really run a bad race and I think the 1400m will suit.

“I don’t want to sit on the fence so I would probably marginally lean to Seaburge.”

Seaburge comes off a win in the 2016 VRC Sires Produce Stakes, his second win from three starts.

There Seaburge beat Detective, a rival again in the 2016 Sires’ and a horse with formlines through Sydney stakes winners Capitalist, Kiss And Make Up and French Fern.

“He’s a real professional, I think he’s a very good class colt,” Dabernig told Michael Felgate on RSN Racing And Sport.

“First run in Sydney and drawn a touch wide is always a little bit awkward but I think he’s one of our better two year olds.

“He’s got a touch of class and I think he’ll run really well.

Zamzam ran third in the 2016 Blue Diamond Stakes two starts back before scoring her first stakes victory in the 2016 St Albans Stakes.

Dabernig believes Zamzam will enjoy the step up to 1400 metres in the 2016 Sires’.

“She’s always raced as though 1400m will suit her,” Dabernig said.

“Her two wins have come on the soft tracks so with a little bit of sting out of the ground we know that she likes that sort of going.

“She’s thrived since arriving in Sydney so I could only see her running well.”
