Old North Entered For 2016 Hollindale Stakes

Promising colt Old North is one of 21 entries for the Group 2 2016 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast this Saturday.

Winner of the 2016 Tulloch Stakes before running second in the 2016 Frank Packer Plate during the Sydney autumn, Old North is the lone three-year-old entry for the 2016 Hollindale Stakes.

Old North is one of three Godolphin entries for the 2016 Hollindale Stakes, joining Hauraki and It’s Somewhat, both coming off the Group 1 2016 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Chris Waller is also well-represented in the entry list for the 2016 Hollindale Stakes with eight nominations, including last Saturday’s 2016 Hawkesbury Gold Cup winner Amovatio and fourth-placegetter Strawberry Boy.

Waller has also entered his French import Spiritjim for his Australian debut in the 2016 Hollindale Stakes along with Beaten Up, Index Linked, Kool Kompany, Moriarty and Weary.

New Zealand training duo Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman have entered Sakhee’s Soldier for his Australian debut while fellow Kiwi Volkstok’n’barrell is also among the 2016 Hollindale Stakes entries.

Other key entries include Nevis for Robert Hickmott, Leebaz for Team Hawkes, Puccini for Darren Weir, Sir John Hawkwood for David Vandyke and Sir Moments for Steven O’dea.

The 2016 Hollindale Stakes is one of six stakes races on the Gold Coast program which also includes the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas, where the 24 entries include Santa Ana Lane, Takedown and Sir Bacchus.

The Group 3 2016 Ken Russell Memorial Classic drew 17 entries including Gai Waterhouse’s recent Sydney winner Purrari.

Exciting sprinter Malaguerra is a key nomination in the Listed 2016 Prime Minister’s Cup with a big list of 32 fillies entered for the 2016 Gold Coast Bracelet.
