Craig Williams – Sandown

In-form jockey Craig Williams has seven rides for five different stables at Sandown today and has successful strike rates with four of them. Currently winning 22 per cent of his rides, Williams starts the day with a pair of rides for John O’Shea - a trainer he strikes at 20 per cent with – aboard Gridelin in Race 1 and Frothed in Race 2. He strikes at 26 per cent with Darren Weir and rides two for the record-breaking trainer, Septamore in Race 3 and My Obsession in Race 4. Williams has won one of two rides aboard Robbie’s Star and goes aboard again in Race 5 for Peter Chow and teams with Mark Kavanagh (26 per cent) with Tessabelle in Race 7. William’s other mount is Parmalove in Race 6, his first recent ride for the Morgan/Widdison yard.

Umgeni – Gold Coast, Race 8

Umgeni has returned in terrific form, winning all three of his runs this campaign and the statistics suggest he can continue on his winning way again in Race 8 at Gold Coast. His three successive victories all acme at this track and he has put together a terrific record at the course, winning four and placing once from seven visits. He steps up to 1400m today but has won at the distance before and he has a great record on soft going, with two wins and a second from three runs.

William Pike – Belmont

Jockey William Pike is always a hard man to beat in the west but his current form is as good as ever, with a strike rate of 34 per cent. He has seven rides at Belmont today and teams with some trainers he enjoys successful associations with. That includes Grant Williams (30 per cent jockey-trainer strike rate) with Special Jewel in Race 5 and Streets Of London in Race 6, Team Giadresco (33 per cent) with Big Caroline in Race 7 and Daniel Morton (23 per cent) with Nightwatchman in Race 1. Pike’s other runners are Musgrave in Race 2, Outstretch in Race 3 and Aerozine in Race 4.
