Bullrush, trained by John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes, is unbeaten in five starts going back to the start of his career at Goulburn last August.

The late starter by O’Reilly didn’t appear again until December when he won at Wyong and Canterbury before another spell.

He returned in May to win another two races at Canterbury and Randwick before the Hawkes stable again turned him out.

Tuesday’s trial will be his second since returning to work, having won a heat over 760m at Hawkesbury on August 22.

Bullrush is owned by New Zealand’s Waikato Stud and was given plenty of time to develop before he was sent to the Hawkes stable as an unraced three-year-old with the view being that he would need time to mature.

“We have always had a good opinion of Bullrush but he is still learning, he is not there yet,’’ Michael Hawkes said.

Bullrush is entered for a 900m trial on Tuesday that includes the classy mare Zanbagh and smart sprinter Inz‘N’ Out.

The eight-year-old Our Boy Malachi will making his first appearance since his fourth behind stablemate Chautauqua in the G1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick in April in another 900m trial that includes Group perfomers Happy Hannah, Tsaritsa, Lady Le Fay and Denmagic.

The Rockhampton-owned sprinter has won 18 of his 24 starts and has a huge following in north Queensland where he started his career.

The Hawkes, Snowden and Waterhouse/Bott stables have a number of interesting horses entered for the Rosehill trials.

The other Team Hawkes entries include Kaepernick, Kandinsky, Swear and Radradra; the Snowden team includes Dothraki, Charlie Boy, Happy Hannah, Serene Majesty, Ravi, Suspense, Attention, Jericho and Niccolance; and Waterhouse and Bott are sending Caped Crusader, Broadside and Replique from their Randwick stables.

Broadside is a former New Zealander who has been with Waterhouse since last season after winning two of his first three starts last year at Trentham and Otaki.

He has already trialled three times at Randwick since March for three placings.
