Champion mare Winx continued her amazing winning streak, taking that to 11 wins in succession with another brilliant victory here. She was slow to move, settled back in second last place in the six-horse field. She moved up easily (wide out) rounding the home turn, dashed to the front approaching the 100m and then drew clear to win, seemingly with plenty in hand. Hauraki raced in fourth place, one out and one back. He improved well nearing the home turn, briefly got to the front nearing the 200m and then fought really well for a very good second. It’s Somewhat raced outside the leader (Great Esteem) to the 300m and then fought on quite well to hold the minor placing. Vanbrugh was third on the rails, got along the inner at the 300m and then kept fighting on well to hold fourth, beaten just under five lengths, at his second run this preparation.
