Wet track specialist Princely Blaze should relish the heavy conditions at Casterton this afternoon.

Princely Blaze runs for trainer Jarrod McLean in the benchmark 64 handicap over 1200 metres and is sure to relish the heavy 8 conditions having four wins and five placings from 14 tries on heavy track.

The gelding comes into today’s contest in good form having won two of his last four runs and last start caught the eye running on well for third at Morphettville in a higher benchmark race.

He rates highly in this contest on Timeform figures and is at home at this course, having won two of three attempts at the track and distance.

Mitchell Aitken goes aboard Princely Blaze so his 2kg claim will help offset the seven-year-old’s big weight and the apprentice should be able to find a favourable position from a low draw.

Lots Of Smacks looks a danger coming into today’s contest in winning form.

That came when he ran on well to salute over a similar distance at Moe and the veteran has won his only other visit to this course.

Today’s track will be wetter than last time but he has won on the heavy before.

The form of Fierce Command looks mixed on paper but his best form has been on heavy surfaces including when winning on a 10-rated track at Hamilton three starts back.

He hasn’t really shown up in two runs this campaign but also hasn’t been too far away and has a win and a placing from two-previous third-up runs so should be hitting his peak today.
