Winx Heads Australian Entries For Hong Kong

A total of 42 Australian nominations have been lodged for Hong Kong’s four international races at Sha Tin on December 11.

Champion mare Winx heads 13 Australian horses entered for the G1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m); 11 Australians in the G1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m); 12 in the Hong Kong Mile (1600m); and six in the G1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m); there

A total of 70 horses have been entered for the Hong Kong Cup with Winx the stand out name among the 13 Australian-trained horses nominated.

The Chris Waller-trained mare is one of 35 G1 winners, nine from Australia, entered for the race.

Other notable Australian entries include the Caulfield Cup winner Jameka, Lucia Valentina, The United States, Set Square and Vanbrugh.

The 11 Australian entries in the Hong Kong Vase are among a list of 64 with the dual-nominated Jameka and stablemate Set Square both dual nominated.

Other Vase entries include Grand Marshal and Who Shot Thebarman.

The Hong Kong Mile has attracted a total of 45 entries with the Cox Plate winner Winx given a dual nomination.

She is joined by four other Australian G1 winners, including stablemate Good Project, Toorak Handicap winner Our Rokkii, Vanbrugh and Queen Of The Turf Stakes winner Azkadallia.

New Zealand have one entry for the Mile with Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman entering the G1 winner Turn Me Loose.

The six Australian entries for the HK Sprint include the Chris Waller trio Japonisme, Counterattack and Good Project plus the Manikato Stakes winner Rebel Dane, the Gary Moore-trained Takedown and The Quarterback.
