He added Moral Victory would also benefit from a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed gelding was mildly lame in the near-foreleg. Trainer Mr T Martin stated in his view the gelding may have been flattened by its trial on Monday, 7 November 2016 and indicated it had pleased the stable leading into today’s race. She added, after commencing fairly, she allowed her mount to hold the inside position and when Meusault did not cross her mount in the early stages she improved to that runner’s inside and ultimately led without being pressured. App. Panya further stated that throughout the middle stages, although she was aware the tempo her mount had set was strong, the gelding would not come back underneath her despite her efforts and consequently she set too quick a tempo in the middle stages.

Wine Tales (Race 6): rider App. L Magorrian stated that his mount was standing satisfactorily in the barriers, but after commencing a little awkward, his mount was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages despite his riding and consequently settled further back than intended. App. Magorrian further stated that he was briefly able to obtain a position behind Eminent Duke again near the 500m, before improving to that runner’s outside soon after straightening, whereby his mount finished the race off well.
