Alfred The Great will have to carry 68 kilograms in his bid to give trainer James Cummings consecutive wins in the famous Bong Bong Cup.

Cummings won the race last year with Colour Of Money, also a son of Pendragon carrying the famous black and white checks of Dato Tan Chin Nam.

Alfred The Great is joined at the top of the handicap by city winner Tradtri from the Robert Price stable on the NSW south coast.

The Bong Bong Cup (1580m) is one of six races on Friday at the picturesque course in the Southern Highlands of NSW near Bowral.

South Australian Cup entrant Bossa Nova has been given 64kg with the other seven entries on the minimum 62kg.

Dato Tan's Think Big Stud is about eight kilometres from the Bong Bong course and is the home of Pendragon.

The Malaysian businessman had a long association with Cummings' grandfather Bart, celebrating as the owner of four of the trainer's 12 Melbourne Cup wins.

James Cummings trained in partnership with Bart until his grandfather's death last year.
