Betting Wrap - Saturday November 19

3 minute read

Punters who stuck solid with Religify were rewarded when the gelding scored a dominant win at Rosehill on Saturday.

Backed from $2.80 into even money with the TAB, Religify was never in any danger of defeat after finding the front early.

Kicking away at the top of the straight he put a gap in his rivals to beat the fast-finishing Duca Valentinois ($7-$9.50) while Red Excitement ($8-$7-$7.50) wound up third.

Religify was one of the best backed runners at Rosehill all day with well over half of all bets on the race riding with him.

Bets: Religify $25,000 @ $2.40

The late money was for Choice We Had in the following race and it proved spot on.

With 20 minutes of betting time remaining $4.60 was still on offer, however, the flood of money for Choice We Had then started and didn't stop until it jumped a $3.30 favourite.

It held approximately 35 percent of the total investment and displaced Sir Plush ($3.50-$3.80) as favourite.

Settling near last on the rails, jockey Tye Angland found clear running midway down the straight and the horse powered over the top of his rivals.

Sir Plush was brave in second after leading and setting a strong tempo while Most Exalted came from last on the turn to produce an eye-catching effort.

Bets: Choice We Had $5,000 @ $3.50, $4,000 @ $3.30

Dream Lane.

Dream Lane ($15-$13-$12) followed the rails home when everyone else left the inside and the move paid dividends.

It was an upset of sorts with the majority of punters putting their money on Salmanazar ($3.80) and Dark Steel ($6-$4), with the former actually opening at $8 during the week.

Those two horses commanded the market with a 67 percent hold.

Dark Steel raced in the lead for most of the race before getting nabbed late but wound up third while Salmanazar was back near the rear of the field and never came into the hunt.

Isorich, which filled the runner-up spot, had little interest and was $35-$41.

The other one worth noting here was Sonic Swish which was $6 into $4.80 just before the jump. It would eventually start at $5 and finish on the heels of the placegetters after being near last.

Bets: Salmanazar $3,000 @ $4; Dark Steel $4,000 @ $5.50.

New Tipperary.

Earlier in the day New Tipperary ($2.80-$2.90) showed a great amount of intestinal fortitude to take out the sixth event.

Well supported throughout the day, New Tipperary was wide for the latter stages of the race and after looking a spent force on the turn, picked up under the urgings of Jay Ford to get the money over second favourite Falkenberg ($3.70-$4.20).

The first two across the line were the two most popular and held 60 percent of all win bets.

Iggi Pop ($8-$10), which raced on the speed throughout, was close up in third.

There was also a strong move for Malice ($9.50-$6) throughout the day and the John O'Shea-trained runner ran on okay from back in the field to finish just behind the placegetters.

Le Cordon Bleu.

Favourite backers were left reeling with the well tried Le Cordon Bleu failing to beat a runner home.

The best tried runner on the program, Le Cordon Bleu was crunched from $3.80 into $2.80 and held nearly 60 percent of the market.

It was left to Princefamous ($4.40-$11) to lead throughout and defy a huge betting drift.

Runner-up Kuro ($6-$6.50), which is raced by the TAB Rewards team, wound up second while Press Report ($13-$11) worked home for third.

Supreme Effort, which was smashed late from $5.50 into $4, finished off well but could only manage fourth while the move for Echo Gal ($21-$11) was off the mark.

Bets: Le Cordon Bleu $5,000 @ $2.80, $3,000 @ $2.80 twice; Supreme Effort $6,000 @ $4.40.

Multifacets.

Multifacets ($8-$12) defied a betting drift to land the money in the fourth.

Punters largely ignored the Chris Waller runner in favour of Not A Gypsy ($7-$4.80-$5) and The Bull ($3.20-$3.60-$3.20) who held well over half of all investments on the race between them.

While Not A Gypsy hit the line reasonably well to fill a placing, The Bull led and weakened in the straight.
