Assign put up a solid staying effort in winning here. Having his second run this preparation, he settled nicely back in third place on the rails, behind a good tempo. The favourite Astronomos settled back in third last place in the nine-horse field before improving along the rails rounding the home turn. He switched into clear running at the 200m, challenged strongly at the 100m and then fought well for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too good. Single Gaze raced in sixth place, one off the rails, moved up well (wide) from the 600m, looked a threat when she challenged at the 200m and then fought well for a good third. Classic Uniform went to the front, got a break on turning for home but weakened for (5 lengths) fourth after running a bold race.
