Trainer Joe Cleary and jockey Richard Bensley appear set to carve out a regular theme as they have done for the past three seasons with some winning chances at Queanbeyan on Sunday.

The duo has won the past two trainer and jockey premierships and will wrap up another in the final meeting of the season at the track.

Cleary has had five winners, nine seconds and three thirds from 27 starters at Queanbeyan and looks set to add to the list with Moss Fever and The Nickster his best winning chances.

Moss Fever is first-up from a spell, but has the right credentials to win fresh at his first run since finishing unplaced at the Magic Millions carnival at the Gold Coast in January.

The four-year-old has won three of his five starts at Queanbeyan where he is trained and appears to have an edge in class.

Lightning Alert and Cattledog Cod have race fitness and good form on their side, but the 900 metres fresh should present few problems for the early favourite providing he can angle across from barrier seven.

His two main dangers are drawn inside him in gates one and two which may allow them to gain an advantage.

However, Moss Fever excels in these type of races and is expected to prove too strong.

The Nickster is also first-up from a break after seven starts last campaign produced a win and two seconds.

The mare finished no further back than sixth and form a perfect draw in gate three should be prominent.

The top weight Layo Layo, who will be ridden by Bensley, has 64 kilograms and drops a fair way in grade.

She had no luck first-up and is expected to perform much better.

Cleary’s other main hope is Uncle Gerry who is also returning from a break over 1460 metres.

Meanwhile, Bensley will complete another winning year at Queanbeyan with his third straight premiership after riding seven winners, three seconds and seven thirds from 32 rides at the track.

His best winning hope appears to be the consistent Duke Of Downunder for local trainer Garry Clarke.

The galloper has been placed at his past five starts and despite a wide alley appeals as the horse to run down.
