The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Broadside put up a good performance in winning here. Having his second run from a let-up, he soon went to the front and then set quite a good pace, got a break on straightening and kept fighting on gamely to win well. Auvray settled in sixth place, one off the rails, moved up (under riding) from the 300m and kept running on for a good second, beaten a neck. Admiral Jello had a good trip being third place on the rails, challenged on turning for home and kept fighting on to take third. Sayed was handily placed, racing in fifth on the rails, got through on the inner in the straight and kept plugging on quite well for (2.2 lengths) fourth. The favourite Pacodali had a nice run in fourth place, briefly looked a threat on straightening but then weakened to finish (5.9 lengths) eighth in a disappointing performance considering his good recent form.
