The Rosehill Wrap – November 11

3 minute read

Race by race recap of key performers and ones to watch moving forward from Saturday’s meeting at Rosehill.

Rosehill’s nine race program was largely comprised of small fields which means the meeting was low on eye catching blackbookers.

This said, a number of winners produced displays suggestive they are on their way to bigger and better things, namely Unforgotten.

The last event featured a quinella of runners who were each gelded in their latest spells and may now be ready to realise their full potential.

Race 1: Dynamited - 2YO Handicap (1100m)

Dynamited landed just behind the lead and too strong late. We assessed his debut win at 97p.

He’s a half brother to Shards who is a Group winner and got up over some ground. The son of Exceed And Excel looks to have inherited his fair share of ability too.

Runner up Secret Lady is a little professional. A drop back to 1000m could be what she needs for now.

Race 2: Unforgotten - 3YO Benchmark 72 Handicap (1500m)

Unforgotten was highly convincing on the seven day back up. In producing an utterly clinical success she’s run to 104p. The Chris Waller-trained filly screams stakes level.

They’re putting Unforgotten away now for the autumn and fair enough. She could be a lightweight Coolmore Classic hope over the same course and distance as what she won over last Saturday.

Runner up Cajetan has returned in great order this prep. The Pierro gelding couldn’t get out of his own way as a two-year-old but he won at Gosford first up and stuck on well here behind a smart one.

Race 3: Vassal - Benchmark 85 Handicap (2400m)

Back from Brisbane, back to his home track, back on firmer footing and back in the winner’s circle.

Vassal commenced his latest campaign back in July and keeps measuring up.

The two placegetters were each solid and might be ready to win at their next starts.

Lycurgus just missed. Great Glen was well backed and it was no coincidence he struck some form. He might get his time in the sun fifth up.

The favourite Karavali, she’ll likely be dropped back to ten furlongs.

Race 4: Bon Amis - Benchmark 75 Handicap (1100m)

Bon Amis was able to dictate from barrier 1 and was too good. Produced a Timeform rating of 94p.

Trainer Jason Deamer said post race the horse still has improvement in him this prep. The Bon Hoffa gelding resumed without any trials in readiness.

The four-year-old almost broke 33 his final 600m so Jason definitely has a smart one on his hands.

Curdled in fourth was solid first up. Early signs suggest the All Too Hard’s are coming back better as three-year-olds. Curdled could be another example of this.

Race 5: Intueri - Benchmark 83 Handicap (1800m)

Untried at 1800m, Intueri found the perfect race to attempt it. Two key chances in Stonebrook and I Am Serious were scratched and thinned the race right out. Intueri was the main beneficiary.

The son of Dream Ahead was prominent throughout and strong in the straight. He produced a rating of 98.

The Blinkers went on Intueri three starts ago and he’s reacted well to them. His record with the Blinkers on now reads two wins and a second.

The runner up Miss Dubois was solid late for second.

Race 6: Tiger By The Tale - Highway Handicap (1400m)

Tiger By The Tale has contested heaps of these Highway Handicaps and he’s finally won one.

The placegetters are the ones to be following though. Roseito was closing well into second.

Highway Sixtysix went out hard early. She did a great job to stick on like she did.

Race 7: Just Dreaming - Benchmark 83 Handicap (1500m)

There were a few nervous moments for Just Dreaming followers in the straight when she got snookered but when moved off heels she was too good late. The Kris Lees-trained mare drew clear well when out into the clear.

It’s netted her a Timeform rating of 100. She’s now three wins from four starts at Rosehill. She’s another winner through this Rosehill program who like Unforgotten should be eyeing off the Coolmore Classic in the autumn.

The favourite Stonebrook was disappointing. Perhaps he’s come to the end of his prep.

His win at Canterbury three back returned a Timeform rating of 103. He looks highly promising.

Race 8: Machinegun Jubs - Benchmark 86 Handicap (1200m)

Machinegun Jubs enjoyed a nice run on the fence and poked through late. Ran to a Timeform rating of 98.

Usually a highly consistent type, Machinegun Jubs has endured an indifferent start to her latest campaign, declared a non runner first up at Randwick before a well held sixth at Randwick last start.

She could be back on track following this confidence boosting win.

Race 9: Redouble - Benchmark 80 Handicap (1300m)

Redouble has bounced back from cardiac arrhytmia last start to win and record a Timeform rating of 97.

The Bjorn Baker stable is flying so far this season and Redouble is a nice pick up for them having come from Team Hawkes.

Redouble held his own at stakes level as a younger horse. He was gelded in his latest spell so he might be ready to fully showcase his potential.

Dreamforce is worth following out of the race as well. He almost landed the prize first up. The son of Fastnet Rock wanted to overrace out in front early which probably took its toll late.

He’s still run to a career peak figure though and looks set for a strong prep. He’s another, who like Redouble was gelded in his latest spell.
