Champion Perth jockey William Pike has elected to ride the in-form mare Silverstream, one of the three runners owned by Bob and Sandra Peters, in Saturday’s $1 million Railway Stakes at Ascot.
Bob Peters finalised his riders late on Monday when his stable jockey Pike made his choice from Silverstream, Cosmic Storm and Disposition.
With Pike on Silverstream, Peters has booked Jarrad Noske for Cosmic Storm and Shane McGruddy for Disposition.Pike will now be hoping the barriers favour SIlverstream when the gates are drawn at 10am Perth time today.
Silverstream is the form horse of the Peters trio, having won the G3 Northerly Stakes (1400m) and G2 Lee-Steere Stakes (1400m) at her past two starts.Peters also confirmed that Pike will ride Perfect Jewel with Damien Oliver on stablemate Arcadia Prince in Saturday’s G2 WA Guineas (1600m).
Peters said his star filly Mikimoto would be spelled after suffering cuts and abrasions when suffering her first career defeat in last Saturday’s G3 WA Champion Fillies Stakes at Ascot.Peter and Pike combined to win last Saturday’s G3 Colonel Reeves Stakes at Ascot with State Solicitor, a win that has promoted the sprinter to favouritism for the $1 million Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) on Saturday week.
