2018 BLUE DIAMOND PRELUDE (C&G) – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Ben Hercules will be up there and Plague Stone should be close by. From wide out Seberate and High Ratio look like pressing on.

OLLIVANDER is drawn to get a soft run from two. Will want room to move when they corner but has to be a terrific winning hope assuming that he does. Was very good on debut and the form behind him has worked out very well. Went on with that when arguably stiff not to win the Preview and now goes back to 1100m looking ready to peak.

PLAGUE STONE doesn't have the form on race day to match him but has looked very smart at the trials and must be respected. RUN NAAN is going to relish getting out over a bit further now. Betting key around the newcomers.

Grahame Begg-trained colt Written By is now unbeaten in two starts, resuming here after his promising debut win in a 2YO Plate (1000m) at Sandown Hillside on 2 December. He was quickly away from his outside barrier (13) and the settled in third place (with cover) before moving up nearing the home turn. He took the lead at the 200m and then fought back particularly well to score a smart win. The favourite, Godolphin-raced colt Plague Stone settled in sixth place but was caught wide without cover before improving approaching the home turn. He went to fourth nearing the 200m, challenged at the 100m and then battled on nicely for a good second. Native Soldier settled in eighth place (wide with cover) before improving (under riding) coming to the home turn. He went to fifth at the 200m and kept making ground to take third in a sound effort.
