Rimraam Joins Star Fillies In Surround Stakes

Last start Flemington winner Rimraam is set to be sent to Sydney for Saturday’s G1 Surround Stakes at Randwick.

Rimraan, trained at Lindsay Park by the Hayes/Dabernig partnership for Sheikh Hamdan, resumed with a strong win in the G3 Vanity over 1400m on February 17 when she landed a big betting go from $17 to $7.

Damien Oliver gave the filly a perfect rails hugging ride but cannot retain the mount as he has commitments at Flemington on Saturday.

Kerrin McEvoy has been booked as his replacement in the Surround Stakes, being run for the first time as a Group One event following a black type upgrade.

The top fillies listed to contest the Surround Stakes include Godolphin star Alizee, the G1 Flight Stakes winer who resumed with a classy win in the G2 Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick on February 17, Kiwi filly Melody Belle, Frolic, Unforgotten, Moss Trip, Banish, Debonairly, Shumookh and Pandemonium.

The Lindsay Park stable will also start the juvenile filly Futooh in Saturday’s G2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m).

Futooh has not raced since winning at Randwick on January 6.

The Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott will also start the talented filly Setsuna first-up in the Sweet Embrace Stakes and Godolphin is targeting he race with Couvre Lit, a debut winner at Warwick Farm on February 14.

Setsuna won twice in Melbourne in the spring in the Inglis Banner (1000m) and G3 Ottawa Stakes (1000m).

Her stablemate Santos, impressive winner of the Pierro Plate (1100m) at Randwick on February 17, will have his Golden Slipper lead-up in Saturday’s G2 Skyline Stakes (1200m).

The Gerald Ryan-trained Legend Of Condor will attempt to redeem himself as a Golden Slipper chance in ther Skyline Stakes after disappointing as favourite behind Santos in the Pierro Plate.
