The horses coming up from Sydney lead the Tips and Race Preview for the 2018 Gunsynd Classic at Doomben on Saturday.

Villermont hasn’t found the post first of late but raced well and is $2.60 at Sportsbet in the 2018 Gunsynd Classic (1600m) at Doomben on Saturday.

2018 GUNSYND CLASSIC – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Sawtell will push forward again today with Lucky Jackson on speed. VILLERMONT has been racing well in Group company of late without winning races and gets his chance today taking on easier. Finished fourth in the Group 3 Carbine last time out and if he runs up to recent form he will be too good for these.

DARK DREAM has finished runner up in both outings this campaign, the most recent in the Listed South Pacific at Randwick by a narrow margin. Yet to miss the placings from six starts and expect this to be no different.

HANG has now won five of his eight starts off a nice win at Toowoomba last start. Should measure up against these.

Form Preview

Last year's Sandown Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m) winner Villermont did well in winning here at his first Queensland start. He began well, was wide early on before crossing to the lead at the 1000m. He then settled well for Damian Browne and set a moderate early tempo before picking up the pace and dashing clear on turning for home. He was tiring in the closing stages but still had enough in hand to score, albeit by the barest of margins. The Kerry Parker-trained gelding Dark Dream was smartly away from his inside barrier (1) and eased to settle in second place. He was beaten for pace at the home turn and then kept making late ground, cutting into the winner's margin to fail by only a nose at the post for a really good second. The lightly-raced Chris Waller-trained three-year-old Omineca settled back near the tail of the 14-horse field from his outside barrier. He saved ground along the inner at the home turn and kept fighting on nicely on the rails to take third in a photo, just over five lengths further back, in a promising effort at his third race start.
