The Darren Weir stable has advised stewards that Cliff’s Edge will undergo an operation next week after the finding of bone chips in a foreleg fetlock.

The injury expolains the poor showing by the Cliff’s Edge last Saturday when he compounded badly after racing on the pace.

Weir took the blame for the loss after the race without being aware of the three-year-old’s injury.

"Probably a little bit of trainer error," Weir admitted. "Probably shouldn’t have ran him.

“We thought he was good at home but the hard runs he’s had just took its toll. He just went like a tired horse.”
