3 minute read

Jockey Patrick Moloney is not concerned about the barrier trial performance of in-form sprinter Rich Charm who ran fifth in an 800 metres hit out at Cranbourne yesterday.

Rich Charm, a Udyta Clarke-trained five-year-old, won his latest start won the Vobis Gold Sprint (1200m) at Caulfield on 21 April.

He settled back in heat one yesterday before finishing fifth behind Belwazi.

"In the second half of the trial, when the pace started to pick up, he was quite happy to bomb out the back,” Moloney said.

"I just had to give him a niggle so he didn't lose too much ground.

"Really happy with him, the main thing is his action is tickety-boo basically.

"He doesn't over-exert himself at all when it comes to trials at Cranbourne; he's pretty happy and complacent in his home environment."
