Race 3; #10 Orcein

I’ve always had a bit of time for this bloke. Things didn’t quite go to plan first up at Hawkesbury. He got back behind a slow pace and then came down the wrong part of the straight.

Overlooking the run is probably the way to go as he showed a lot of promise during his maiden campaign. He kicked it off with two placings at Rosehill. Then he went up to Brisbane and ran fourth in the BJ McLachlan Stakes.

This is the easiest assignment he’s been given to date. I think Orcein capitalise on that.

Race 6; #7 Revenire

Revenire looks the best bet on the card after recording a pretty soft first up win at Hawkesbury.

They’ve freshened him since then with the colt being deemed a non runner due to a barrier issue at Randwick on April 18. My hunch is they think he is a winter carnival type.

Even if that isn’t correct, he’s got a great fresh record and is the most progressive horse in this race by some way.

James Cummings is dominating at Warwick Farm this season. He has 20 winners at a strike rate of 34% and a profit on turnover of 37%.

James saddles up six runners at the Farm today. This guy is the pick of them.

Ron Quinton-trained colt Royal Celebration followed his debut second in a 2YO maiden (1100m) on 17 April to progress in taking out this race, albeit by the narrowest of margins. He raced in sixth place, between runners, got into clear running on straightening, but raced a bit greenly before responding with a late bid to grab victory in the last few strides in a promising win. The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Whiteley went to the front, got a break on turning for home, only to be caught at the post for the closest of seconds in a nice effort, resuming here at his second race start. Godolphin-raced Wagner, second at his only two prior starts, raced outside of the leader (Whiteley) and kept battling on well (under riding) for a close-up third.
