Group winning sprinter Thronum has been retired following his failure in the G1 Goodwood at Morphettville on Saturday.

The 4YO was found to have suffered a career ending injury when finishing last in the big field of 20.

His rider Tim Clark said he felt Thronum go amiss on the home turn.

“I felt him put in a short one and I pulled him up as soon as I could,” reported Clark.

Thronum was first trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott in Sydney before being transferred to the Lindsay Park stable in Victoria.

He won five of his 14 starts including the G2 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley this year and was G1 placed in the William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in March.

Thronum, a son of champion sire Snitzel, is to be given his chance at stud.

He will stand at Sun Stud in Victoria this spring.

The Andrew Noblet-trained sprinter Super Cash, an unlucky deadheat fourth in the Goodwood, will be sent to Queensland in a bid to land a Group One win.

Noblet said he will set Super Cash for the G1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on June 23 after the mare’s luckless runs over the Adelaide carnival.

Super Cash, a G2 winner of the Rubiton Stakes in Melbourne, was unlucky to miss a place in the Goodwood.

She was held up for a clear run from the home turn to the 200m when travelling kindly behind the leaders.

It was similar to her previous start in the G1 UBET Robert Sangster Classic at Morphettvile when she finished 11th after never getting clear galloping room.

Plans are undecided for I’ll Have A Bit, the surprise packet of the Adelaide carnival after winning the G2 Euclase Stakes and finishing third in the Goodwood at cricket score odds.

Trainer John McArdle said he will either spell I’ll Have A Bit or send her to Brisbane for the G2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on June 9 before the Tattersall’s Tiara.

Adelaide’s best mare Viddora is to undergo tests following her disappointing performance in the Goodwood.

Trainer Lloyd Kennewell said Viddora was not herself on Sunday after finishing 13th in the Goodwood.
