Three-time Group One winner Le Romain resumed and scored a really smart first-up win. Carrying top weight (61kg) soon improved along the inner from barrier one to settle in fourth place on the rails, behind a good tempo. James McDonald continued to get inside runs with the six-year-old to challenge at the 200m before going on to win well, proving too classy here. Four-year-old Siege Of Quebec raced in three wide in third place, sharing the lead (with Condor Heroes and Radiant Choice) before getting to the front at the 300m. He then battled on well after working in the early stages for second in a sound first-up effort. Boss Lane raced in fifth place to the home turn and battled on nicely in the straight to take the minor placing just in advance of Takedown who was sixth to the turn before running on quite well for (5.2 lengths) fourth.
