Shumookh, twice placed previously in Group class from six prior starts, broke through for a deserved Group 2 victory here, staging a really game effort. Having her second run this preparation, she went to the front, settled nicely at a reasonable tempo (first 800m 49.05) and then kept fighting back courageously to score by the narrowest of margins. Champagne Cuddles enjoyed a nice trip from her good barrier (1), challenged strongly at the 200m and battled gamely for second, beaten a nose in yet another very honest performance. Princess Posh raced in fifth place, on the rails, got between runners turning for home and ran on really well for a close up third. Invincibella raced back in eighth place, one off the rails, looked for a run in the centre on straightening, only got clear nearing the 100m and then ran on nicely for (1.3 lengths) looking somewhat unlucky.
