The Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp is run over 1000m. It was first run in 1957 and was won by Texana.

It was brought in to celebrate the centenary of Longchamp in 1957. The Prix du Moulin, now run earlier in the year, was the other race in its honour.

It is run on a straight course up the back straight at Longchamp and run in the opposite direction of the course.

The Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp has always been at 1000m and was a Group 2 when grading starting before becoming a Group 1 in 1976. Geldings were allowed from 2001.

In 2008, Eastern European sprinter Overdose won the Abbaye but there was a false start and the race was voided due to a non-opening gate. He did not participate in the re-run at the end of the day won by Marchand d'Or.

The Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp is run on Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe day.

Four horses have won the race twice – Texanita, Gentilhombre, Committed, Lochsong.

The 2016 and 2017 editions were run at Chantilly as Longchamp was under its long term redevelopment.

Yves Saint-Martin won the race five times as a jockey while leading trainer sits with Francois Mathet with eight victories.

The last non-French winner was Battaash in 2017 for Charles Hills.

The Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp is worth €350,000 in 2018.
