As rain continued in Sydney, trainer Cameron Crockett  says a heavy track won't fuss Velaro  in Saturday's Highway Handicap at Randwick.

The Mudgee trainer said the four-year-old was strong-minded and mentally wouldn't shy away from performing his best whatever the conditions.

"He's a very bold horse and I don't think it would worry him," he said.

"He's absolutely flying - if everything goes to plan, he'll win easily."

The gelding's most recents wins at Wellington and Dubbo came on good tracks.

Randwick track manager Nevesh Ramdhani said the track has handled the rain well with 32mm fallen in the last 24 hours up to Friday morning.

"I rated it as soft 7 this morning but I somehow think with these showers coming through now we are pretty much heading towards a heavy track," he said.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a 70 per cent chance of rainfall on Saturday at Randwick.

Crockett also has Sharpe Hussler  in The Kosciuszko on October 13 and is confident in the seven-year-old's preparation.

'He's tip top, he's really, really good. I'm not too worried ahout him," he said.

"He loves a wet track, soft or heavy."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
